about Jan
Jan talks about her love of art:
As a child, I always loved painting and drawing but gave it up at secondary school in favour of science, which became my career. But I never lost interest in art and dragged the family around many art galleries on holidays in Italy, France and Spain. So, soon after retiring from teaching physics I joined Bar Hill Church Art Group. I went to further education classes on water colour painting for three years, attended numerous short and one day courses and belong to another art group which has regular tutors. But I love Bar Hill group most for the relaxed atmosphere the support, encouragement and most of all friendship. Thirteen years later I am still learning. I paint mostly in water colour or oils at home and enjoy painting animals and flowers. Portraits of people are a work in progress.
